This means that students are
- expected to line up quietly in single file at their classroom before the second bell and
- have all required books and equipment for that class.

World Teachers Day 29 October
World Teachers Day in Queensland is celebrated today on 29 October. The day is an opportunity to celebrate the dedication, care and professionalism that our teachers demonstrate all year. Again this year, in a challenging and changing COVID-19 landscape, teachers have shown unswerving commitment to providing quality education and support to Queensland students. WTD is an opportunity for us to publicly thank our teachers for the contribution they make to the future of our young people. Thank you to our wonderful staff!
Election of School Leaders
School Leaders for 2022 school year will be decided in the coming weeks and announced in Week 7. In order to qualify for a Senior Leadership position (School or Vice-Captain), House Captain and/or Indigenous Ambassador position, students are required to meet criteria related to attendance, academic achievement, effort and behaviour and arrival on time for school. If Year 11 students would like to apply they are required to complete paperwork and address the selection criteria by Tuesday 2 November and return to the office. From then an interview will take place in Week 6 where a panel will ask questions based on their application. Following this a two minute speech will be given to the student body of St George State High School outlining why they would make a good leader. Voting will then take place. Please see Miss McKenna should you have any questions.
From The Transition/YSC Officer
At present we have quite a few jobs, apprenticeships and traineeships on offer in the Balonne Shire for Year 12 students and school leavers.
If your child is interested in any vacancies or has any questions please do not hesitate to contact me at school.

SPORTS NEWS
Rugby League - The girls represented the town with pride and spirit, arriving at Roma Cities Oval early Wednesday morning. Playing in a 7-a-side competition, the girls battled teams and the heat alike. They rallied together and worked hard for each other, stealing away tries and celebrating together. A very special mention to Nequwa Collins for scoring eight tries in total on the day, along with Sharon Pearce, winning the NRL encouragement awards for the day!
The boys went away on Friday, an hour earlier than needed to ensure they were strapped and ready for battle. Lucky, they did, as they showed the other teams that the Boys from Balonne are STILL undefeatable, winning both grand finals (back-to-back years!!) and supporting one another through thick and thin. The engravements on the Arthur Beetson shield continue to state “St George State High”. The sportsmanship shown from our boys willingly jumping on other teams to ensure their players had subs on a hot, dry 40-degree days just goes to show how we demonstrate what it means to be a St George High student when helping a mate out in need.
I would like to thank Aunty Joy Weatherall, Reeghyn Beardmore, and Jasmine Clevin for all of their work and help for our students. I am so proud of the courageous, near fifty student squad we took away on the Wednesday and Friday, and so excited to see where rugby league goes in our bright future here in St George!
