We are looking forward to camp this Term and I think that the students attending are starting to get excited about the activities we will be completing like paint ball, twister buggies and the slides into the lake. Miss Wallace is doing an excellent job coordinating the camp and I know it will be an excellent chance to see our future leaders in action.

Due to the extended nature of the exams students will continue with scheduled classes until they have finalised assessment for that subject, after this they may either sign out or stay in tutorial classes at school. Opti-MINDS
On August 25, Year 7 students from St George State High School participated in the Regional Opti-MINDS Division 2 competition in the Language- Literature and Science Engineering sections. Opti-MINDS is a creative sustainability challenge is an inclusive team challenge which empowers participants to THINK, CREATE & COMMUNICATE and is a creative problem solving event for teams of participants.
Due to COVID restrictions which made face-to-face competition impossible, the students recorded their results at school in both these challenges.
Students who participated in the Language-Literature challenge were Josie Small, Harry Coltzau, Penny Wilkinson and Lillian Stenhouse. These students presented a very interesting play and received an Opti-MINDS Spirit award for their participation.
Students who participated in the Science Engineering challenge were Lincoln Walker, Tomas Kunde, Thomas McCosker and Jason Fletcher. These students created a model for a recycling machine and also received an Opti-MINDS Spirit award for their participation. Addiitonally, these students attained first prize in this division and were awarded their trophy at the STGSHS school assembly on October 12. These students are also participating in the Opti-MINDS state competition which is being held at University of Queensland ‘s St Lucia Campus in Brisbane.
All students should be congratulated on their tremendous efforts in spending several hours in their lunch breaks over several months, in participating with enthusiasm and representing the St George State High School with eagerness. Special thanks to Mrs Jodi Hyland who organised and administered the whole process.

From Guidance Officer
Homework Club – St George State High School is offering students the opportunity to participate in the Homework Club to provide a quiet, supported work place for students to complete homework and assessments. The program seeks to help students develop better study habits, time management skills and extra time with teaching staff. Homework Club will run every Thursday 3.05 – 4.00pm in the Library. Due to the program running after school hours students will be required to return the permission slip students were handed Week 1 before being able to attend. There is no requirement for student attendance each week. Homework Club had its first day yesterday and will continue for the rest of the term.
