Agribusiness Grant Application Successful
Congratulations to Alanna Ives and Lennie Cott for their successful application for a grant to support the Agriculture Department through the Agribusiness Gateway to Industry Schools Program. The grant will enable the school to further develop their curriculum offerings to all students who study this subject and will include the acquisition of water-energy-saving infrastructure. Well done to Alanna and Lennie.
Parent Teacher “evening”
Parents and carers will be aware that early Term 3 is usually the time when we set aside an evening to discuss students outcomes, behaviour and effort over the previous semester. With COVID-19, this is very unlikely to be possible in the usual format. I will be sending to all families a check sheet asking parents and carers to identify a time during the week set aside for interviews, when it may be possible for school staff to contact you to discuss your child’s progress this semester. Please feel free to return this notice to nominate a suitable time when you can discuss over the phone your child’s Semester 1 work.
Zingers a great success!
Congratulations to the PBL team for their great re-vamped “Zinger” menu where students can “cash in” their zingers for prizes for good work and behaviour. It is wonderful to see students working towards their next selected item by making good choices in class each day.
Mr York McFadzean, Principal
From Hod Senior Secondary
We are heading into the fun time of assessment here at school. Students are reminded to study at home and complete assignments on time. For student who are struggling, due to sickness, please fill out an extension form from the front office.
Year 10
Reminder SET Plan appointments are scheduled for Friday, 26 June 2020. This is an important interview where your student’s future career pathway is discussed in detail. Each interview will take approximately 30 minutes and will require students to select their subjects for 2021/2022. Attendance at school for all Year 10s on this day is only required at the scheduled interview time. Students should use this day to ensure they have well researched and planned their senior and post school pathways. Please organise your Interview time on SOBS, using the following link, from Monday 1 June.

The other event outlined in the letter is subject information and future pathways, as we cannot have the event at school due to the pandemic this year, I will be releasing this information on Facebook and also on our website where possible.
Year 10 students have been working on what their pathways could look like and Mr Carrello and Mr Basile have been helping students work through the SET Plan on OneSchool.
Year 11
Students are reminded that the next few weeks matter as I will have conversations with students who have failed Unit 1 and may need to look at other subject areas where possible. Please make sure you are having these conversations with students as they will be required to have a parent signature to authorise this change.
Year 12
The assessment calendar is out for this term and the teaching team are working on when assessment will take place next semester. Please keep an eye out for this, when it is compiled, I will release to students, on Facebook and in the newsletter.
For any questions or concerns you may have regarding your Senior Secondary students please email me at daddi4@eq.edu.au or call 4620 8222.

Year 7 HASS
Civics and Citizenship has been the focus for our Year 7 HASS classes during Term 2. This unit has allowed us to learn about being an Australian citizen, the democratic processes and how government creates bills and laws.
Using this information, 7B were able to consider a rule they would like to introduce to St George SHS, and were able to petition for this rule.
Students created posters and presentations that were observed by Mr McFadzean and voted upon to attempt to gain a double majority necessary for the introduction of new legislation!
Congratulations to 7B on their fantastic effort and democratic presentations.

What’s Cooking In The Kitchen
Our Home Ec kitchen has been really busy since students returned. Last week Year 9 Home Ec made bread roll cobs and two types of soup for sale as part of our SALVOS winter appeal fundraising. That was continued on Monday with Year 7 Home Ec making Fried Rice and selling it instead of eating it themselves. Year 8 Home Ec made a pizza to enjoy eating with their partners this week. They will sell the mini quiches they make during their week 10 cooking class. Spaghetti and garlic bread will also be available for sale next Thursday. Thanks to students who have sacrificed their time or their food to raise money for those less fortunate.

Don’t forget delicious food available from Home Ec kitchen (First Break 11:20am)
